On Monday, July 4th, the ceremony for the 2016 Red Dot Award took place at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany.

The new Ducati XDiavel S took the "Best of the Best" title; the award was received by Andrea Ferraresi, Manager of the Ducati Design Center, and Patrizia Cianetti, Marketing Manager, in front of an audience consisting of the world's biggest names in design.

A highly qualified jury consisting of 40 internationally famous experts assessed all the candidate products. They assigned this important title to the new Ducati cruiser (S version), an acknowledgement that again confirms how Ducati motorcycles are synonymous with performance, style and innovation.

"Such a special bike required an equally special process. Extreme in its proportions, the XDiavel S was deliberately designed 'element by element'", commented Andrea Ferraresi. "The short, modern chassis is instantly recognizable, as is the classic Ducati Trellis frame. The teardrop tank inevitably brings to mind the cruiser world yet retains the beefy, sculptured look of the Monster and the Diavel. The headlamp is an ultra-modern interpretation of the ones mounted on our naked bikes. The same goes for the tailpiece, muffler and seat. A host of independent elements that give rise to a harmonic, balanced whole. The Red Dot Award rewards Ducati's creativity and brilliance, yet also its tenacity in facing new challenges and discovering new roads, a characteristic shared by all latest-generation Ducati bikes."
